About this collection

Shop vintage US military coats at Rare Gear USA, from classic US Navy peacoats and wool overcoats to WWII-era mackinaws and camouflage combat coats. These original government-issue pieces were built for service and remain some of the most wearable military clothing today. Each listing includes photographs, measurements, labels and condition details.

Find the Right Military Coat

Available models, sizes and eras change as individual pieces sell and new stock arrives. Styles you may find in this collection include:

  • US Navy peacoats: The heavy wool double-breasted coat worn by sailors for generations, recognized by its wide collar and anchor buttons.
  • Wool overcoats: Long Army and Air Force overcoats made for formal dress and cold-weather wear.
  • Mackinaw and jeep coats: WWII-era Army field coats with canvas shells and wool linings.
  • Combat and hot weather coats: In military terms, many uniform tops are officially called "coats", such as the woodland camo Coat, Hot Weather.

Labels, Makers and Military Details

Review the photographs of contract markings, maker labels, buttons, linings and any insignia. Government labels typically show the item name, size, stock number and contract number. Contracts starting with DSA100 or DLA100 often include the year of manufacture. A model designation alone does not establish the year an individual coat was made, and insignia alone does not establish its service history. Explore our military clothing guides for help with identification.

Choosing Your Size and Fit

Many military coats are sized by chest measurement and length (for example, 40 Regular or Medium Long), and wool overcoats were cut to fit over a uniform. Compare the listed chest, shoulder, sleeve and length measurements with a coat you already own, using the same measuring method. See our Sizing Charts for more help.

Condition and What Is Included

Check the photographs and condition notes for moth holes, fading, repairs, replaced buttons and lining wear, which are especially important on vintage wool. Our Condition Guide explains how we grade each piece.
