About this collection

Shop vintage US military parkas at Rare Gear USA, from Korean War–era fishtail parkas to Cold War extreme cold weather and flight parkas. Built to protect soldiers and aircrews in harsh conditions, these original government-issue parkas are as wearable today as they are collectible. Each listing includes photographs, measurements, labels and condition details.

Find the Right Military Parka

Available models, sizes and eras change as individual pieces sell and new stock arrives. Styles you may find in this collection include:

  • M-51 fishtail parka: The Korean War–era US Army shell parka with a long fishtail back, designed to be worn over layers with a removable liner.
  • M-65 fishtail parka: The later fishtail parka, often paired with its button-in liner and hood.
  • N-3B and N-2B parkas: US Air Force extreme cold weather flight parkas with fur-trimmed hoods. The N-3B is the longer version, while the N-2B is the shorter, waist-length style.
  • Extreme cold weather (ECW) parkas: Insulated parkas issued for arctic and cold-weather service.

Labels, Makers and Military Details

Review the photographs of contract markings, maker labels, zippers, snaps and hood details. Government labels typically show the item name, size, stock number and contract number. Contracts starting with DSA100 or DLA100 often include the year of manufacture. A model designation alone does not establish the year an individual parka was made, so use the information documented for each item, and explore our military clothing guides for help with identification.

Choosing Your Size and Fit

Military parkas were cut to fit over uniforms and insulating layers, so they often run larger than modern outerwear. Read the complete size designation (for example, Medium Regular), then compare the listed chest, shoulder, sleeve and length measurements with a coat you already own. See our Sizing Charts for more help.

Condition and What Is Included

Check the photographs and condition notes for fading, marks, repairs and fabric wear. Liners, hoods and fur ruffs were often separate components, so confirm in the listing whether they are included rather than assuming they come with the parka. Our Condition Guide explains how we grade each piece.
